2015 Season wrap-up

12/12/2015

Since writing at the beginning of August, we completed eight more weeks of CSA deliveries. Lots of tomatoes, kale, lettuce, broccoli, cucumbers, onions, beets, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, eggplants, bok choy, apples, parsley, peppers, and watermelon. We estimate that these last eight deliveries were valued at $184. When added to the $250 value of the previous twelve weeks, the total value of the summer CSA deliveries came out to $434. This is a bonus of $135 from the selling price per share of $299.

Thank you to both our Litchfield area and Farmington share members. We hope you were able to do some great canning and preserving this season with all the produce!

Davyd and Jenny took some time away from the farm to go on vacation and Margaret and Jonathan willingly stepped in and kept the place running while they were away. Through two days of massive rain showers and following days of heat, they kept the sheep happy, bees fed, chickens safe, and gardens watered. Not to mention putting together everyone's CSA shares. Lots of picking, processing, and packaging.

Here is what went out:

Week #5

  • 2 bags lettuce
  • 1 bag kale
  • Loaf Beehive bread
Total value: $18

Week #6

  • 2 bags lettuce
  • 1 bag kale
  • Loaf Beehive bread
  • Garden herbs- cilantro, dill, chives, & mint
Total value: $22

Week #7

Davyd and Jenny return!

  • 3 bags lettuce
  • 2 bags kale
  • Broccoli (Farmington pick-up)
  • Garden herbs- cilantro, dill, chives, & mint
  • Jam (Litchfield pick-up)
  • Bouquet (Litchfield pick-up)
  • Eggs (1 doz. Farmington pick-up, half doz. Litchfield pick-up)
Total value: $38
